These bed frame plans start from your mattress size: the frame adds clearance around it, splits the deck into pieces that fit a standard sheet, and places a support under every joint. Common sizes are 900, 1400, 1600 and 1800 × 2000 mm in Europe, and Twin, Full, Queen and King in the US.

A platform bed needs no slats: the deck carries the mattress directly. Drill a few ventilation holes in each deck panel so the mattress can breathe. A loft bed lifts the same deck on solid end panels, with guard rails and a ladder, and frees the floor below for a desk.
The designs cover platform, loft and bunk beds, a bookcase headboard and a wall-mounted wood headboard, for every mattress size.
