Console Table Height and Dimensions
A standard console table is 30–32 in (76–81 cm) tall, 12–18 in (30–46 cm) deep and 36–72 in (91–183 cm) long. Behind a sofa, the right height is the height of the sofa back, or up to 1 in lower, so the table looks like part of the sofa. In an entryway, 30–32 in is a comfortable height to drop keys and post. The average console table height is about 30 in (76 cm).

Make it about two-thirds the length of the sofa and never longer. If the sofa floats in the middle of a room, the console table also gives a place for lamps without trailing cables across the floor.
In an entryway or hallway
Leave at least 36 in (91 cm) of clear walkway in front of the table, 42 in where people pass each other. In a narrow hall, choose a shallow table, 8–12 in deep, and fix it to the wall with two small brackets: a tall, shallow table tips forward easily. Hang a mirror with its bottom edge 4–10 in above the table and its centre near eye level, about 57–60 in from the floor.
